Activities & Arts

Creative endeavors enhance learning as children develop fine and gross motor skills, learn new skills, and mature socially as they participate in activities with like-minded peers.

Band

Students in fourth through sixth grades can participate in the Hawlemont band program. Small group lessons take place once a week for 30 minutes. Our band students perform at several events throughout the year, including Kids in Concert and an end of the school year art and music show.

Students may choose from one of the following instruments: flute, trumpet, French horn, clarinet, trombone, saxophone, tenor saxophone, or percussion.

Hawlemont has many instruments for students to use at a cost of $25 for the year. We will distribute the instruments on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who do not use a school instrument or own one of their own may rent from Gerry's Music.

4-H Club

4-H empowers young people to be true leaders. True leaders are young people who have confidence; know how to work well with others; can endure through challenges; and will stick with a job until it gets done. In 4-H, we believe true leaders aren’t born—they’re grown.

Summer Camp

At summer camp, students participate in two workshops each day on topics including gardening, beekeeping, cooking, and arts and crafts.

Community Lunches

Each month we invite residents to have lunch with the students. Menu options may include some of the food we grow in our farm project or foods from around the world that correlate with books students are reading.

Art

Creativity is a beautifully constructive form of self-expression. Hawlemont students participate in a variety of activities in the visual arts where they utilize multiple mediums, including paper crafts, paint, and pottery.

Drama

Whether performing on the stage, building a set, or managing technical aspects, the theater is an exciting way to transport yourself and others through time and around the world. Our drama program is setting the stage for student success.
